Vikings Release 2009 Schedule

The Minnesota Vikings are pleased to announce their 2009 regular season schedule, which can be viewed below.

Friday, August 14 @ 6:30 p.m. Lucas Oil Stadium The Vikings will make their first visit to the new Lucas Oil Stadium, which opened in 2008, as they kick things off against Peyton Manning and the Colts.
Friday, August 21 @ 7 p.m. Metrodome Defensive end Jared Allen gets his first crack at his former team as the Vikings welcome the Chiefs to town to kickoff the 2009 home schedule.
Monday, August 31 @ 7 p.m. Reliant Stadium Speaking of playing against former teams, quarterback Sage Rosenfels will return to Houston, where he played for three seasons, on Monday Night Football.

Metrodome Fans may recall that the Vikings played the Cowboys to conclude the 2008 preseason … they will face each other in the 2009 finale as well, only this time at the Metrodome.

Vikings are just 8-13 against the Rams on the road and visit St. Louis for the first time since 2003.
Sunday, October 18 @ Noon Metrodome The Ravens will make their 1st-ever visit to the Metrodome and former Vikings C Matt Birk will spend his 1st game on the visitor’s sideline at the Dome.

Steelers have won the past two meetings between the franchises, but Vikings hold 8-7 all-time series advantage.

Lambeau Field
Minnesota heads into the bye week after playing their second game of the season against the Packers, with this one coming on the road.

Metrodome Vikings play their second of two division games in a row and will look to hopefully sweep the Lions like they did in 2008.
Sunday, November 22 @ Noon Metrodome Steve Hutchinson goes against Seattle in his second regular season game vs. his former team.
Sunday, November 29 @ Noon Metrodome Vikings and Bears will battle twice in 2008 as Chicago looks to cut into the Vikings 51-43-2 all-time series advantage.
Sunday, December 6 @ 3:15 p.m. University of Phoenix Stadium Vikings return to Arizona for second consecutive season after defeating the Cardinals 35-14 in 2008.
Sunday, December 13 @ Noon Metrodome Bengals visit the Metrodome, where they are winless in five tries, for the first time in 11 seasons. Vikings are 4-0 against Cincinnati at home.

Bank of America Stadium Panthers look to avenge a Week 3 regular season defeat from 2008 as the Vikings visit Carolina for the first time since 2005.
Monday, December 28 @ 7:30 p.m. Soldier Field
The Vikings are 6-4 vs. the Bears on Monday Night Football.
Sunday, January 3 @ Noon Metrodome Teams have played in ten of the last 11 seasons.
